About the Christian Karate Association

Our Dojo

The CKA-Dothan Dojo (School) is a family-friendly place for individuals and families alike to learn and practice traditional Martial Arts while growing together as people.

CKA-Dothan is also headquarters for the Christian Karate Association, an international and independent organization of martial artists joined together by the common bond and love for the Martial Arts and the belief in Jesus Christ. However, many other systems, and interested non-martial artists alike, support and contribute to our united efforts of sharing the unlimited positive attributes of the Martial Arts and the love of Jesus Christ with people around the world.

Please stop by for a visit as we would love the opportunity to meet you and serve your family in any way possible. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Our Programs

At CKA-Dothan, we teach traditional Okinawan Shuri-Ryu Karate and Shintoyoshin-Kai Jiu-Jitsu (Japanese Jiu-Jitsu) as the two core components of our programs.

Our programs teach discipline, which develops self-confidence, physical endurance, courtesy, flexibility, strength, respect, and weight loss, as well as the thrill of a very safe sport competition program, resulting in greater concentration and self-defense.

Dwayne Tharpe

Sensei Dwayne Tharpe has been involved in Martial Arts since 1974. He is a multi-national champion in tournament competition and has been blessed with the opportunity to study under the founders of the Shuri-Ryu style and is a member of both the International Shuri-Ryu Association and American Budokai International. In 2005, Sensei Tharpe was named Director of the Christian Karate Association by the organization’s founder, Shihan Lemuel Miller (7th Dan, Shuri Ryu).
